L IV. Other Very Good Books
The following is an attempt to recommend some books I have read on various subjects that I think many other people would enjoy and profit from reading, and that you might not know about.
I hope you will read in more than the areas that may alone interest you at the outset, in order to broaden yourself.
I did not try to select from great literature any novels, drama or poetry that I read, though everyone should read some. (Someone wrote that popular literature presents extraordinary events in lives of extraordinary people, while great literature tells about ordinary events in ordinary people’s lives as seen through the eyes of extraordinarily perceptive & understanding writers so as to make every reader understand & appreciate life much more.)
Everyone should read something on each of the following topics. Whether you have or have not, the following lists will give you some good reading on each topic.
